Dog Days

According to Wikipedia:

The phrase Dog Days or "the dog days of summer", refers to the hottest, most sultry days of summer. They are a phenomenon of the northern hemisphere that usually falls between early July and early September but the actual dates vary greatly from region to region, depending on latitude and climate. Dog Days can also define a time period or event that is very hot or stagnant, or marked by dull lack of progress.

Indeed. I miss the Spring days when my roommate would take me to Prospect Park or the Fall days when we'd walk all the way down 5th Avenue so I could look into all the shop doors to see who was there. Heck, I even miss the Winter days when I could run like a Husky over dirty snow and watch kids try to sled down the Slope. But the dog days of Summer are the worst. I can't do anything but feel stagnant, marking the dull lack of progress of my days.

I am a short nosed breed, which means that I don't handle the summer months all that well. They are not my favorite time of year because I can't stay outside for very long. My roommate even bought me this collar you can fill with ice or a refreezeable packet called a Kool Kollar ( I highly recommend it, although on super hot days it only lasts for about 30 minutes. Then I stop walking. She hates it when I do that. I can be very stubborn! The dog walker even wrote her this message today: "Kool Kollar gave Max more energy... to be stubborn!"

My walker is uber cool, by the way. He's patient, he's smart, and he believes in positive training. Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks was dead wrong! They obviously never met Mike! If you live in the Slope and you're looking for someone you can trust with your dog, you should give him a call.

Hi, by the way. My name is Max. I have two roommates and we live in Park Slope, Brooklyn. I'm running to become the first black canine mayor of Brooklyn. Not to be confused with my fellow blogspotter named Max, who is also running for Mayor (of someplace in Indiana),

I'll be putting my platform together soon and posting it here. I'm mainly interested in the campaigning part of running for mayor, not really the actual work part of being a mayor. I like meeting people, playing with and kissing babies, smiling and bringing people and pets together.

Stay tuned and stay cool!
